Kenai Fjords National Park, Alaska
Below: What a beautiful place! We hiked in the park then took a boat tour through the fjords.
Below: We saw whales, otters, harbor seals and porpoises. This is a humpback whale sticking his head out of the water.
Below: Some sea lions were enjoying the sunny day.
Below: There were starfish along the shoreline.
Below: We passed many glaciers on our tour but the highlight was the Aialik Glacier. We parked in front of this glacier and watched it calve several times. That was very cool! (literally and figuratively). Another tour boat passed in front of us which gives a sense of scale to this giant glacier.
Below: The glacier cracked, crackled and dropped large chunks of ice into the water.
Below: We hiked to Exit Glacier to see it up close.
Below: A mountain goat was walking near Exit Glacier.
Below: The National Park Service offers some helpful hints on what to do if a grizzly bear starts eating you. Your tax dollars at work!
Below: There were lots of horned puffins perched in the cliffs and flying around our boat. We loved our visit to Kenai Fjords!
