Gates of the Arctic National Park, Alaska

Wanna get away? This is the most remote park in the United States and very large - larger than Massachusetts and Delaware combined. The park is in the Arctic Circle and is total wilderness. There are no roads to the park or in the park. There are no trails, buildings, campsites or services of any kind. The National Park Service explains, "If you want to know what the Earth looked like before man came along, this is it." We hired a guide service to fly us to the park on a float plane so we could see it.
