2018 Travels
Egypt
September 26th to October 3rd, 2018
Egypt was
very interesting. We said "Wow!" everywhere we went. We found Egyptian people to be very kind and friendly which, with all the wonderful things to see, made our visit quite memorable.
On several days we hired private drivers to take us out to the villages ... where no tourist normally goes ... so we could see what life is really like in Egypt. This was an incredible experience. Village life is a dramatic mix of old and new. To our surprise, many of the villagers gave us a warm welcome and gladly let us take their picture.

Below: We stopped at this house because we saw a camel in their yard. The owner told us they only use it for transportation around town.

Seeing the Great Pyramids of Egypt was a dream come true. The artwork inside the tombs and pyramids was stunning. We were surprised to learn we could climb on the pyramids, and touch the 4,000-year-old painted hieroglyphs on the walls inside.

Below: We saw lots of mummified kings and queens but meeting the 3,300-year-old King Tut in person was the highlight.
Below: We went for a dinner cruise on the Nile River which included belly dancers and traditional Egyptian 'spinners.'
